Our experts provide free guidance on how to build engaging lessons on the economy.

Teaching about the economy can sometimes be dry and a bit daunting for some teachers. However, taught well, it can be fascinating, current, relevant to all ages and lead to some great discussions and debates.
Paying for It provides teachers with training to enable them to use the variety of resources available to them to enhance the classroom as a stimulating environment.
Training sessions provide practical ways to harness the current economic challenges, and bring them to life for 14-18 year olds through interactive and innovative teaching and learning. By demonstrating sample activities, and outlining a few overarching themes – with links to the citizenship and PSHE curricula – the training aims to increase teachers’ confidence, and provide inspiration for teaching quality lessons in this area.
As a result of the training 72% of participating teachers agreed or strongly agreed that they were more confident about addressing economic awareness as a result.
The training is flexible in length – anything from 30 minutes to 3 hours. It can be run in school with a group of teachers during a INSET day, or form part of a local authority’s CPD course.
